Ghanaian Diaspora Women Towards Gender Transformative Action
As part of the implementation of a more structured diaspora strategy, a comprehensive framework for involving the Ghanaian diaspora in Germany and Europe has been developed. This framework aims to foster closer dialogue between the diaspora community, the Ghanaian government, civil society, and international partners, specifically promoting the contributions of women in the diaspora. Supported by the Ghanaian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy in Berlin, the initiative focuses on establishing a network for diaspora women to bring in their often-underrepresented perspectives and strengthen their active participation.
The maiden event was a brainstorming session for Ghanaian diaspora women in March 2024. It served as the foundation for developing a framework to promote women's inclusion within the diaspora. Building on this, the framework and the Ghanaian Diaspora Women's Network were officially presented at a high-level event in Bremen in June 2024. These measures aim to strengthen Ghana's diaspora strategy in the long term and promote targeted contributions to sustainable development.
