The Albanian Diaspora Women Summit
The 5th Summit of the Albanian Diaspora Women was held in October 2024. About 150 businesswomen from the Albanian diaspora worldwide gathered in Tirana to exchange ideas and discuss their role in the development of the country. This makes it the largest forum of its kind in Albania.
In the first panel discussion, MEG Implementation Manager in Albania Olinga Rafat described the Albanian diaspora as a vital partner in promoting innovation and development objectives. With a third of the Albanian population living outside the country’s borders, she highlighted this as a significant reservoir of untapped potential, which if channelled correctly, could provide a crucial impetus to the development of the country.
The summit was organised by the Albanian Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the National Diaspora Agency, and the Diaspora Business Chamber, with support from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
