Diaspora Investor Training
This training offers an introduction to Angel Investing in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in selected partner countries. It is aimed at members of the diaspora in Germany interested in investing in SMEs in their country of origin.
Learn how to invest in SMEs in selected partner countries:
Access to early-stage growth capital remains one of the most persistent challenges for SMEs in emerging markets. Entrepreneurs often rely on self-financing due to high interest rates, short maturities and strict collateral requirements from formal financial institutions.
Millions of people with a history of migration in Germany retain strong economic and personal ties to their countries of origin. Their capital has historically flowed into remittances and low-liquidity assets such as real estate, leaving a gap in structured capital for local high-growth enterprises. Therefore, strengthening the diaspora’s knowledge in structured investment, legal frameworks in different countries and risk-mitigation is crucial to promote their participation in SME financing.
This six-week intensive programme is aimed exactly at that. Taking place between November and December 2026, the training will enhance the capacity of selected diaspora members in Germany to assess SME investment opportunities and make more informed investment decisions. After the training, the programme will help connect participants and SMEs.
