My first migration experience was within Zambia as a child, following my parent’s work in the banking and public health sectors. Later, my family moved to the UK, leaving my older sister and I in Zambia due to a visa denial. This sparked my interest in migration dynamics.
At 26, I moved to Tanzania, where I transitioned from an “accompanying spouse” to an international expert working with various development agencies, including the Canadian development cooperation, DFID, the EU, KfW, the World Bank, and the UN system. Since then, my family and I have lived in China, Malaysia, Kosovo, Germany, and briefly in North Korea. In all these countries, apart from work opportunities, I joined and engaged with a wide range of diaspora groups, networks and actors.
