During my stay in Quito at the Ecuadorian Development Bank, where I worked as an expert for water, wastewater and waste, I was confronted with the harsh conditions of Ecuador's water management. This made me realise once again that I wanted to apply the technical expertise I had acquired in Germany in my home country as well as in other developing countries.

As a member of the Diaspora Advisory Board, I would like to promote the sustainable development of countries such as Ecuador through knowledge transfer and also play an active role in shaping development cooperation with third countries. I also want to be a voice for the many migrants who want to strengthen the economic and social development of our second home, Germany.

As an engineer, a foreigner and a mother, I face numerous challenges in my everyday life, both professionally and privately. Finding the balance between these three facets and making the best of every situation is an ongoing task that has become one of my personal strengths.

As a hydraulics engineer and expert in water supply, I am often the only woman in the room. That's why I'm currently working at my former school, the German School in Quito, to interest female students in technical and scientific careers. We are currently working with various organisations in Ecuador on two projects to strengthen the transfer of knowledge between Ecuador and Germany and increase the visibility of women in technical professions.
