"34 Snapshots – Science Diaspora for Ukraine"

"34 Snapshots – Science Diaspora for Ukraine"

To show how scientific cooperation continues even in times of disruption, the research agency Info Sapiens created the publication for the Science Diaspora Platform. Developed within the framework of Ukraine’s Ministry of Education and Science, the collection weaves unique stories from Ukrainian researchers working across the globe.  It offers concrete examples: Ukrainian scholars abroad mentoring junior researchers, co-authoring studies with colleagues in Ukraine, organising international conferences, strengthening laboratory capacity, and building scientific networks facilitate knowledge exchange. The publication was made possible with the support of the GIZ programme “Shaping development-oriented migration” (MEG), on behalf of BMZ.

Across 34 interviews, readers encounter biologists, economists, engineers, sociologists, medical researchers and more all working from abroad while maintaining strong academic ties to Ukraine. Together, their stories offer valuable insights on how global expertise can remain connected to national scientific development, even in wartime.

We recently held a research conference in Dublin dedicated to Ukraine. It brought together Ukrainian scientists and international experts interested in collaborating with Ukraine.

Scholars working abroad focus on conducting studies into issues that are preventing Ukrainian society from developing after the war and proposing ways to solve these issues. This directly improves Ukraine’s prospects for postwar development.
