I came to Germany from Nepal in 1999, although I hadn't originally planned it that way. I had finished my bachelor’s degree and wanted to apply for a master’s programme in Bangkok. DAAD was awarding scholarships to Nepalese students to study in Bangkok, so I made an appointment with the German embassy to get more information. At the German Embassy, I was asked if I would like to study in Germany – and so I ended up coming to Germany instead. After my studies, I went back to Nepal and then I came back again.

I am passionate about strengthening community engagement and empowering diaspora actors.  For me, cooperation, mutual support and accountability are essential elements for successful development cooperation. This is what motivates me to be a part of this Board. 

My superpowers are networking and reliability. I have been a volunteer with the diaspora organisation Nepali Samaj e.V. for over 20 years. During this period, I have gained a clear picture of the landscape of diaspora organisations and associations in Germany. I would like to contribute this knowledge to the work of the Board and help these organisations gain more visibility. 

My approach to all things is very hands-on. Time management is very important to me. I accept and respect people for who they are.
