In Nepal, disability often goes hand in hand with stigmatisation and exclusion. Eight per cent of Nepalese people with disabilities have a hearing impairment. Their access to education has so far been inadequate, as there is a lack of specific educational programmes for people with hearing impairments.

  • The project shows how this can be changed at four schools. It is based on the government's plans to make education accessible to all Nepalese by 2030 and to digitise and modernise educational content. The experiences and results of the project will later be transferred to other schools in Nepal.
  • A digital learning platform with special learning content for hearing-impaired people is being developed using open-source software.
  • The platform and the new digital, partly interactive learning content will initially be used at four schools. The necessary technical infrastructure will be created for this (computers and servers).
  • Teachers will be trained in inclusive learning methods and the use of digital content. They will learn how to integrate the new platform into the existing curriculum and how to create their own content for the platform.
