GFMD Side Event: Effective Information Dissemination and Public Outreach toward Positive Migration Narratives

We are delighted to invite you to this virtual side event held as part of this year's Global Forum on Migration & Development (GFMD). Effective public communication and access to reliable information are pivotal for achieving several objectives of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM).
Date & Time: 26th August 2025, 13:00 – 14:30 UTC
In an era of increasingly polarised migration narratives, fact-based communication has become a strategic tool for both governmental and non-governmental actors. This event will explore how strategic communication can support informed policymaking, strengthen social cohesion, and promote the empowerment, protection, and inclusion of migrants. Bringing together representatives from government and non-governmental organisations, the event will discuss the roles of various stakeholders in shaping migration narratives and ensuring the dissemination of accurate, timely, and accessible information.
This online event is co-hosted by the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, the Republic of Serbia, and organised by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, through the global programme “Shaping development-oriented migration” (MEG). Other key partners are:
- Center for Creative Initiatives in Health and Population (CCIHP), Viet Nam
- Center for Migrant Advocacy (CMA), Philippines
- Corporación Centro de Estudios de Derecho Justicia y Sociedad (Dejusticia), Colombia
- IDEAS Centre for Research and Social Development, Republic of Serbia
- Media Response, Ghana
- Migrant Forum in Asia (MFA), Philippines
Join the event and explore impactful communication approaches and how to strengthen fact-based public discourse on migration.
We look forward to your participation.
