About Us
Diaspora2030 is a platform for people in Germany with a migration history and who are interested or engaged in the field of development. If you would like to use your expertise and experience to initiate change and support a future worth living for people in our partner countries, then you are in the right place.
Engaging for sustainable development
The diaspora opens up new opportunities and access to development-related fields in the partner countries of German development cooperation and is, therefore, a highly-valued partner. Thanks to their language skills, local networks, and knowledge of local circumstances and needs, diaspora organisations and people with a migration history make an important contribution to sustainable development.
German development cooperation is committed to the 2030 Agenda and the associated Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. In choosing the name Diaspora2030, we aim to highlight the contribution that the diaspora can make towards achieving these goals. We foster this commitment by supporting development-minded individuals and organisations from the diaspora in Germany to harness their skills and expertise in the best possible way. This is part of our overall support for civic commitment. The 2030 Agenda cannot be achieved without non-state actors.
Diaspora2030 provides information about support opportunities for sustainable diaspora commitment in partner countries of German development cooperation. Through the shared case studies, you can obtain inspiration for your engagement.
Who is behind Diaspora2030?
The Diaspora2030 website is run by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

MEG is currently active in 15 partner countries, namely: Albania, Cameroon, Colombia, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Georgia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kosovo, Nepal, Serbia, Tunisia, Ukraine and Viet Nam.
In addition to the support offered by MEG, Diaspora2030 pools other funding opportunities for development-oriented diaspora commitment.
